The talk about mounting cds and some work I did last night reminded me of a
question I asked before, but maybe there's something new out there.

In os 9 there's no problem mounting an outboard scsi drive or cd player or
scanner that has just been switched on. There are a couple of utilities to do
it. MtEverything is my favorite.

As far as I know, you have to reboot in OS X (I'm up to 10.2.6 on my Beige MT)
to mount anything scsi that wasn't there at boot. Or maybe sign off and sign
on again, I haven't tried that.

Does anyone know another way? Maybe there's a Unix comand?
