I believe that you will find a 2 port card better than a 4 port card.
Is your card recommended for a mac?
Did you install apple's usb software version 1.4.1? (The exact name is different, but lots of folks have recommended the 1.4.1 version)
(There is a newer version which sometimes does Not work.)
