I guess not. But wanting to test if that means
even booting into 9, too, discovered that I can't
even do that. Holding option-key down gives
an instant of smiley face, terminated by booming
chimes, black screen then startup of X. It will do
this over and over if Option held down. OK, I'll
proceed to the MKLinux floppy driver hack. Bad
news. There's no uninstall but I was able to ferret
out the extension by searching. I guess my daughter
-in-law can take her floppy to my son's (PC!) house
to get her  job done. But why can't I boot into 9 without
X muscling in?
