Have you indeed tried it in other slots and has worked ok? If not my 1st
guess would be bad or incompatible ram, a common problem if you didn't get
it from a dealer familiar w/ the needs of Macs. The reply about # of chips
is questioning the compatibility.    "I can put in 64 mb ... and it works
with that", suggests that the slot itself is ok.
