>I've acquired a 3" fan for my desktop for auxiliary cooling,

Fans are usually 12 volts.

In order to powr those fans from the Zip power connector, you'll need a
mating male AMP Mate-N-Lock 4-pin connector and pins.

Available in distributor bubble packs which consist of a female connector
and its four pins and a male connector and its four pins.

The pins are intended for crimp connections using a special tool, but you
can get a decent connection by using long-nose pliers to start a crimp
and then soldering each crimp.

The red (or colored) fan wire should go to pin 1; the black fan wire
should go to pin 2.
