The drive will work fine on your Mac. If you need to format it, Apple's Drive Setup will work fine. Also, just remember that any 80G ATA/IDE bus drive will work fine in your Mac (I have seen them with rebates as low as $50-60 new) As to the software, it should work. HOWEVER: Are you getting the original CDs with the installed software? Is it just system software or applications? If system, you may need to reinstall on your system, particularly if it has OS X. Most apps on it should work fine, but some games and higher end stuff may need more horsepower than you have under the hood. If you need the software listed on the drive, make sure you are getting the original CDs and that all software installed is legit and licsense transfers are included.
