The Radeon 7000, and nearly all PC-type video cards have VGA-type
connectors, which is 15 pins in a 9-pin-sized housing.

The Mac standard is 15 pins in a 15-pin-sized housing.

Griffin and many others make Mac-to-PC adapters which make the monitor
believe it is talking to a PC, and make the Mac believe it is talking to
an Apple-type fixed-frequency monitor, or, alternately, an Apple-type
multi-frequency monitor.

If you install a Griffin "dongle" and set it to multi-frequency, and also
to the size of the screen, the MacOS will automaically determine the
range of resolutions which are selectable by the Monitors control panel.

The later MacOSes are smart enough to read the monitor's device
characteristics (over the special serial link the cable provides) and
will display all the available resolution options.
