I only have display sleep enabled on my B&W. I've always found sleep much too much trouble to bother with except on battery powered computers.

A BIG note of thanks on the Panther report. You have a very similar set up to mine and it's great to hear you're having no problems. I also have a Adaptec 2930 SCSI card and an Iogear USB 2 / FireWire card. A couple of questions if I may.

What cache enabler (and version) do you use?
Do you use any FireWire drives?

I have a B&W with an OWC G4-550. I've never really considered it too
much, but I don't think it's sleeping properly. I'd like to have the
machine sleep, let's say overnight or after 3 hours.... whatever.

The hard disks spin down, and the screen turns off, but the fan stays
on, kinda loud too. Is this normal? I'm still a Mac newbie so I'm just
wondering what's "supposed" to happen with sleep. I would think the fan
should stop also, right?

I haven't testing in OS9 yet, but I've just installed Panther and
that's what happens.

BTW: The install of Panther is working great! Much faster than
Jaguar, and with PCI Quartz Extreme enabled with a Radeon 7000, I get
the cool fast-user switching cube thing happening :-)
