so we have this FW enclposure at work with a CDRW in it, well it turns on, the the case led light for on comes on, but the drive wasn't working so I took the drive out. put it into a G4, works fine, tried putting it back in QUE! FW case, no worky, sys admin says, fine, take broky FW case home, no work no good here. So I was wondering, anyone knwo why the cases power led would come on but it won't give drives power?

Because the IDE:Firewire bridge is fried. One or more of the power lines for the drive is broken. The firewire connector is messed up. A cable is loose in the interface. Your firewire cable is bad.

Many things can go wrong with an enclosure that have nothing to do with the power supply.
