I've got a similar situation. I was a bit surprised to find that Disk Burner wasn't installed on a G3 DT, I thought I'd seen it (it is in the OS 9 System). I tried adding it but OS X doesn't do that. I have installed Toast 5.0.2 (into OS 9) and then the 5.2.1 update (an OS X app) and just (as I've been writing this) did a test burn to a CDRW. It seems to have worked, there is this CD on the desktop with the stuff I burned. Next I have to try a CD-R but first I've got to pick up my kids.

Does anyone know how to get Disk Burner installed on this machine.
