Towsley is right: Leave off the jumpers. I ran into the same thing with my Rev A beige G3 and a WD drive. You can check out the parameters at Western Digital Technical support, and also XLR8 your mac. (XLR8 has a lot of threads on drive compatibility issues--although its hit or miss)
