Hi everybody,

So, I'm getting ready to take the plung. I could use a lot of advice. What are the various versions of 10.2 (10.2.x), how do they differ,

Sometimes you will see a "combo" update. The Combo update is simply a combination of updates. 10.2.8 had a combo update that would take you from 10.2.6 to 10.2.8 in one step (skipping 10.2.7) as explained in this kb:

The regular update updates from 10.2.6 to 10.2.8. The combo update updates from 10.2 through 10.2.7 to 10.2.8. That is the combo will update any system from 10.2 through 10.2.7 to a 10.2.8 system. The regular updater will only update from the prior version (10.2.7 being something of an anomaly).
