I have a beige G3/333 MT with the original 8.4 GB SCSI HD. Does anyone
know what "type" of HD? Is it a wide or ultra wide, 50 pin or 68 pin
etc.

Some of these systems came with a wide SCSI card- an Apple version of the Adaptec 2940UW IIRC. If it is the original drive is SCSI and not an ATA, I am pretty sure it is a Ultra Wide drive. All wide drives (wide and ultra wide) are 68 pin.

Best bet is to open the case. If there is a card with a cable going to the HD, odds are good that it is an Ultra wide HD. Wide connectors are D shaped. If there is no card, it is a 50 pin narrow scsi drive attached to the motherboard. 50 pin connectors are rectangular in shape and the cable is wider than the 68 pin cable.

BTW, according to everymac.com http://everymac.com/systems/apple/powermac_g3/stats/ powermac_g3_333_mt.html all of the 333s came with a UW card and the stock drive was a 9G (formatted to 8.4 or so) UW drive.
