There is no sound. In the control strip and in the sound control panel, it won't let me adjust the volume up from zero. It also won't let me check "mute" (thought maybe I could check mute, then uncheck it).
I do believe this is a hardware problem, though, because it's the same running OS 9.0 (a clean install that was on the HD that came with the machine and after I swapped hard drives for the one out of my old C500 that has OS9.1. Exactly the same symptoms.
I also tried plugging in external speakers--still no change.
I have checked that the built-in speaker is properly connected to the motherboard.
Any other ideas?
