Just a note that version firmware version 4.0 is available for the Sonnet Tempo 133 ATA controller. Discovered this the hard way after updating to 10.3.2 (just installed 10.3 and went right to the updates w/o passing Go and w/o stopping to collect $200).
Oddly enough the firmware update has to be installed in OS 9. *Not* Classic mode, but booted to OS 9. I had to do the update because my 120 GB Maxtor drive could not be accessed. Every time I tried to open it, the Finder would relaunch. Then the drive appeared as 40 GB. Formatted it in disk utility multiple times and still only 40 GB. Updated the firmware to 4.0 (was 3.2.5) and the disk formatted back to normal capacity. The firmware update is specifically designed for drives with 8 MB buffers. My drive is Maxtor 6Y120P0 and it does have an 8 MB buffer.
Thanks,
Glenn
