All,

Below is my rambling email about having some disk copy problems mounting disk images. I recently upgraded to 10.3 on my G3. As is the protocol, I did an archive and install of 10.3 when upgrading. The reason I was getting an error with the Disk Copy Helper was because Disk Copy was launching from my "Previous System" folder from the archive and install. Made sure no personal info was in the previous system, and trashed it. Now that the old copy of Disk Copy is gone, my disk images mount with no problems.

All,

Put 10.3 on my G3 450 anticipating that I'd be able to log out w/o quitting all apps, but I have to on this machine. Wife's G4 works fine, so I'm guessing it's a firmware issue or something.

Can't do anything about that, but can "solve" this. I used a lot of disk images. Most of them are password protected. These are the symptoms, let me know if you have any thoughts on how to fix it. It is my understanding that Disk Copy has been folded into Disk Utility. I have opened the problem child disk images with no problem in disk utility.

Symptom #1: In 10.2 I was used to simply double clicking on my encrypted disk images and having it ask me for my password. Then it mounts on the desktop. With 10.3 I double click on the same disk image and it opens "Disk Copy Helper" like it did in 10.2 and it asks for my password. I type it in and click OK. Then I get this error: Disk Copy helper unexpectedly terminated. As I mentioned above, if I open this same disk image in the Disk Utility, it launches with no problems. I like the old way better...

Symptom #2: When opening a standard disk image I normally click "Skip" to skip the checksum process. If I do that in 10.3 I get the same error. If I let the checksum process finish naturally I get no error and the disk image mounts.

I checked the downloads page and can't find a newer version of disk copy. Right now it's

Thanks,

Glenn
