It won't install DVD player on a G3MT no matter what you do.  It's Apple's way
of preventing programs from being loaded on machines that can't handle them.  
You have to dig out the program from the CD.  Once you have it installed, it
should work perfectly on your machine, as it does on my similar rig.

I don't remember the details for finding and extracting it, but someone on the
list may have it at his/her fingertips.  If not, let me know and I'll be glad to
dig out the messages where it was detailed by me and others.
