Not right, thankfully.  Apple's DVD Player works fine on a Beige if you have an
adequate video card.  In os 9 you need a hacked version that disregards the fact
that you are runninng it on a Beige. In X the standard DVD player works fine,
but does not automatically load on a beige.  You dig it out of the disk and
install it manually.

At least 300 mhz processor speed in needed.  I have 466 and software dvd playing
works fine in both os.

By the way, with DVD players costing $50 or less these days, it seems
unnecessary to play them on computers, especially if an expensive upgrade would
be necessary.  I hardly ever check the dvds I burn on my computer.  They go
right to the TV.
