Slow Beige with 10.2.8

I have updated my beige MT from 10.2.3 to 10.2.8 using the combo 
update, and then the latest security update. My machine ran fast with 
10.2.3, but since the update is unbearably slow. Is there any way to 
fix this, or do I have to go back to 10.2.3 and leave it there? If I 
have to go back, how do I do it and keep my data?
