hey out there, ok, this gets weirder...
came in this morning, fired up all the macs and low and behold, the firewire drives show up! after some experimentation, we reckon the way round it is to turn off and then turn on the file sharing in the system prefereances when you connect a drive. we need to check this is really the case but i'll keep you posted. so i can see the drives, i can read from the drives but i cant copy to the drives. darn it!. i've checked the permissions on the drive (apple i on the hd icon) and under 'ownerships and perssions' the check box for 'ignore ownerships on this volume' is checked. why cant i copy files to it???!!! any suggestions out there?? cheers, jake > -----Original Message----- > From: G-List [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of > Glenn Schunemann > Sent: 04 February 2004 03:32 > To: G-List > Subject: Re: firewire drives not available on the network? > > > Yeah, when I log into my desktop from my ibook over my > wireless network > I log in as admin, and can see all the internal drives in the Mac (3 > total) and my iPod if it's connected.
