But I am still curious. The Desktop Folder in 9 or earlier should be invisible
except to certain programs, including any list in X, Sherlock and image browsers
like Camedia or Canon Browser and others.
Something when I was messing with 10.3 changed the folder to be invisible
everywhere, though files in it can be found with Find or Sherlock, and the
computer uses it correctly, i.e. it displays correctly when booted in 9.2. I'm
wondering what different flags for invisibilty there are in the operating
system?
There are flags to make files and folders invisible. The Desktop Folder isn't normally flagged invisible though. It is simply hidden automatically by the Finder because it's called "Desktop Folder". The is the same basic reason that the blessed System Folder, Extensions folder, Control Panels folder and others have special ICONs.
