OK, I'm totally confused. I've been having lots of problems with my Beige G3 relating to 10.2.8 and the screen going dark. I had access to a Rage 128 video card, so before I went back to 10.2.6, I thought I'd try that. At first I couldn't even get it to boot from locking up with the black screen, so I ended up pulling the pram battery and letting in sit for a while, and it then booted up. I put the Rage 128 in and now it boots fine and it seems to have solved the black screen problem. It's a little early to tell on that though.

In the meantime, I thought I'd run Disk Warrior to clean up whatever had been screwed up from all the black screen freezes, but when I select it as the startup disk and attempt to restart, it froze during startup. When I restarted, it went into 9.2.2 and then the CD wouldn't even appear on the desk top in 9. If I select X as the startup, it will start up just fine off the hard drive, and voila, the Disk Warrior CD will appear on the X destop. I thought it might be something wrong with the DiskWarrior disk, so I tried the Jaguar CD and it did the same thing-lock on startup. So I'm thinking it must be the CDROM drive, so I put in a spare CDROM drive. Guess what, it did exactly the same thing. I can't boot anything off of either CDROM drive. The original drive was working because I installed Jaguar just a few days ago. What on earth could be causing this?
