airport question

I am wanting to setup a wireless network between my G4 DA and my iBook 
600 so that I can setup my iBook in my vehicle for invoicing purposes 
and access the file on the iBook from my G4 DA without having to take 
the iBook out of the vehicle.

Do I just need a airport card for each or can I use a USB wireless 
ethernet adapter for each?
