Hi All,

I'm using a B&W G3/350, Rev.2, OS 9.2.2 at my home office and a Dell 8100 laptop running Microsoft Win 2000 Professional at work. I want to transfer some data files (mostly Word docs, PPT, & PDF's) from the PC to my B&W --- what is the best way to do this and what software will I need to make this process seemless?

Under OS9 you will need DAVE: <http://www.thursby.com/products/dave.html> for the most mac-like way of doing it.

You can do it with FTP servers for free, but that's more cumbersome. Set up WarFTP on the PC <http://www.jgaa.com/index.php?menu=154> or use NSCA Telnet on the Mac to set up a FTP server there, <http://archive.ncsa.uiuc.edu/SDG/Software/MacTelnet/>

Then there's the sneakernet approach. Get one of these: <http://www.sandisk.com/retail_cruzermini.html> plug it into your PC at work, copy the files over, pop it in your pocket and plug it into your mac at home.

Costco has been selling 256MB ones for $50 for a long time. I use mine all the time. Cheaper than DAVE, easier than FTP and usable for other stuff. A lot of the professors here use these to carry their powerpoint lectures; my old boss (who was a major technophobe) thinks these are great.
