Doug, You are correct that there are no issues with the partition on a B&W. I recently purchased two used units for my daughters on eBay. A used B&W is a good value right now. The 450 should be a reliable and fairly fast machine for you. I am guessing that you are upgrading from the Beige. Two quick notes about the B&W. Try to find out if the machine you are interested in is a Revision 2. The drive bays are laid out better for drive upgrades, and the IDE chip update (402) are improvements that really make a difference in the B&W. Here's a link about the Rev. 2 http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/G3-ZONE/yosemite/newfeatures.html When you upgrade to OS X, I suggest you go to 10.3.2 (Panther), I have it running on both of my daughters B&W with no issues, and it "feels" much faster than Jag. Both of the printers you listed have OS X updates available. Here you go.
