My MDD powermac has a 106 pioneer. I hear from eMac and iMac owners some have a Sony, that oddly enough is a +/- drive but can only do - from as far as I know. Question of this new drive to work in a G4, as long as someone writes drivers for it I'm sure it can work. Only question is Apple supporting it in its own iDVD and DVD studio Pro software which is another story. Interesting enough right now is how the eMac has the fastest superdrive burning -r at 8x. My guess is we could see a good possibility of seeing that drive or similar in the next update or two of the powermac.

The one I have in my Digital Audio G4 is a Pioneer DVR-106.

At the risk of showing my ignorance, Which DVD / CD burner is the one
incorporated in the Superdrive? Then do the Superdrives of the G4, G5, and
various iMacs all have the some features? Are they the Pioneer drives? And
if so which one?
