Concerning the use of a USB PCI card in a 9600, I've used two different no-name cards that I got on eBay in an 8600 successfully. The pure USB 2-port card required downloading the USB 1.4.1 driver from the Apple download website. Once the driver was installed, the little card worked fine. The 8-port combo USB/Firewire card probably uses the same driver, but it also came with a mini-CD with drivers. The drivers were all named in PC-ese, but I was able to determine which to use, and the machine recognized it and anything attached without a hitch. I've used both of these cards for over a year. The 8-port card is now installed in my B&W G3 and works great.

However in a PPC 9600 with G3 400MHz upgrade, the PCI USB card and anything attached to it are not recognized. In the OS 9.1 operating system installation the USB extensions were not installed as part of the "easy install" routine. Can they be installed as a separate "custom install", or can they be just "dragged over" or is there a separate extension I need to install. ( i.e. is the "Apple USB card fix" mentioned below what I need ) to get the USB 1.1 card recognized? If so what is the name or description of the "Apple USB card fix" that I need to download?
