My G4/533 came with G4 Specific Install and recovery CD's for 9.1. I
know that for the earlier iMacs up to version 9.0 required an iMac
specific installation, since I had to get an iMac version of 9.1 from a
vendor.

Subject: G-4 won't recognize iMac software disk?

I just got my wife an iMac, which came with OS 10.2.7. That's a newer OS
X than I have in my G4-733 Quicksilver (which I normally run in 9.2.2
because all my peripherals are happy with it, and most of my apps are
for OS-9, although I do have OS 10.1-something on one of the internal
drives).

So, I thought I'd just use the iMac's Software Install and Restore CD to
install 10.2.7 into the G4 and try it out, along with the iMac's
software.

However, the G4 won't recognize the iMac's software CD. Not at all---it
won't even acknowledge that the CD is in the drive.

I did this same thing a few years ago when I put an older iMac's
software into a G4 using the iMac's install disk. It worked fine back
then. Has Apple now made an iMac's software CD unrecognizable to
anything other than an iMac?

If that's what they did, does anybody know a workaround, to get this G4
to recognize the iMac's software install disk?
