$10 shareware and works beautifully, however documents must be converted to PDF before sending. In OS X, that can be done using the Print Center preview function. In OS 9 and below, the $20 shareware PrintToPDF will do it (puts a PDF conversion option into the Chooser and also works as a Desktop Printer).

Other shareware OS X fax programs (e. g. PageSender) are also available. Many users were not happy with the OS X version of FaxSTF.
