we all sometimes want a brick when installing new hardware or software. at that point,
it's best to take a break, read the instructions carefully, ask questions and hang in
there. i usually have good luck with installs, but there are always those occasional
hiccups. i've also downloaded things on the web and had them turn out to be corrupted
in
subtle ways that weren't detected by the usual error detection schemes, especially with
the 9.2 upgrade that i had problems with on the first 3 attempts! and problems that
just
made it not work properly. i even compared the files to verify that the download that
worked was different than the bad ones.

large software downloads over the phone lines is a perilous thing, i sometimes have the
same problem with .pdf files. corrupt when i try to open them, and have to download
again. patience and a cool head are what's needed when trouble shooting. once the
blood
pressure rises rational thought is unlikely, and computers are usually a rational
thing, usually.
