For many months I've been having a problem with my B&W G3 running 10.2.8, when it goes to sleep and tries to wake up again, the screen saver freezes and forces me to reboot. For a week or two a couple weeks ago, after I installed some QuickTime update or something else, it stopped doing that, and stopped disconnecting my network connection when it went to sleep. Then my mom tried to nuke bacon and use the toaster at the same time, which blows a circuit breaker, and my dad reset *all* of them since he didn't know which was the problem, turning off the computer. Ever since then it's been back to going to sleep and not waking up most of thhe time, and disconnecting me.
Is there anything I can do to fix this? I can't have it set to no screen saver and never go to sleep, as I need the password protection (though it will crash with or without it) on the screen saver, and the power drain would be way too high...
One thing, when it fails to wake, give it some time, 5 to 10 minutes. On my Wallstreet it will sometimes take a longer time to wake up. One time it wouldn't wake up until I closed the lid, putting it to sleep again and then opening the lid and waking it again. You can't do that with the B&W of course.
I would suggest first doing a PRAM zap and if that doesn't work then try a NVRAM reset. Hold down Command-Option-P-R during boot to zap the PRAM. To reset NVRAM hold down Command-Option-O-F at boot and then at the prompt type "reset-nvram" or "reset-all" and then press return.
