CUDA actually stands for "Capacitive Unit Discharge ASIC".  It's 
a little red or gray button that, when pressed, resets data like PRAM, NVRAM,
clock.  On the beige G3's it's located next to the PCI slots near the edge of
the logic board.  On any hardware changes, general practice is to press the
CUDA button.  Non-technically speaking, it "resets stuff" and somehow does
wonders when you're running into weird hardware problems (like when adding a
PCI card, RAM, hard drive, etc.).  Hope this helps.
