Not really, unless you run a lot of altivec-optimized code (e.g.,
photoshop).
But if it's a free upgrade, sure!

The only advantage that I can think of is the higher memory bandwidth of
the G4.

You will typically see about double the thruput in memory speed using a G4
vs G3 of the same speed.
