I put an ACARD converter on a Pioneer DVR-105 DVD-ROM-R-R/W and it not
only played DVDs over the SCSI channel, but it burned good CD-Rs over
that SCSI channel. The Mac's built-in U-SCSI Bus 0. A G3's 7300. I had
neither the time nor the inclination to test DVD burning. The drive was
bootable.

ACARD has put a lot of work into the firmware of their EIDE-SCSI "bridge"
adapters, and these can even exceed the 137 GB limit, in some cases,
while also emulating the idiosyncrasies of some CD and DVD drives so that
Toast and Apple utilities are happy with EIDE drives being attached over
a SCSI "bridge".
