I have the above monitor (Apple Trinitron ) connected to a G3 300 with 512 MB RAM. Yesterday it started having an intermittent problem with a slight narrowing of the image in the mid screen region ( sort of an hour glass or waist band effect ) with the constriction of the image leaving a wider black margin along the side edges up to one half inch in width, but with essentially no distortion of color or crispness of image. The resolution is at 800 X 600, 75 MHz. This monitor has automatic degaussing on start up, and when I did a restart it went away, but later was noted again. I don't know if the restart was the cure. I don't know of any magnetic sources in the area to account for "gaussing". I ran Disk Warrior and TechTool Pro with no problems identified. FWIW
Any suggestions? Is the monitor dying? I got it new in 1998. Don -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
