People on some of the video editing forums have been claiming that the firewire ports in G-4s have been frying the circuitry of their video cameras, when they connect them via firewire cables to transfer video. My Miglia DC-2 video converter box (analog to DV and back) just flickered and died yesterday, although it's only a few weeks old. iMovie sees this box as a video camera when connected, and it is plugged into one of my G-4 733's firewire ports, and draws its power from it. I wonder what the chances are that my Mac's firewire port just burned up the video converter box? Is this a known problem that I'm just now becoming aware of?
