Beige G3 & OSX 10.1

I'm having trouble intalling OSX 10.1 on a beige G3. Pretty much it 
won't boot from the cd. Each time it tries, it reboots after showing the 
happy mac icon, then takes forever to initalize the video. It currently 
runs OS9 since OSX won't start. Any Suggestions?
