I have recently acquired a beige G3 mini-tower with an internal
Apple/GV 56K modem. Using Z-Term I have determined that it still has
the 1.001 firmware (K56Flex). I want to updated it to the new 2.200
firmware (V.90) in an effort to achieve higher speeds. I downloaded the
flasher software from Apple, but every time I run it the progress bar
reaches about 10% and it fails. I don't have the actual error text in
from of me right now, but it is to the effect that this update is not
for this modem. Neither the 2.200 or 1.001 updates will successfully
load. Both produce the same errors. I have two personality cards (basic
and A/V) that I have swapped in an effort to get this modem to update.
The modem works fine, but is s ... l ... o ... w. Any help would be
appreciated. Thanks!
