Fellow listers, ran into an issue and would love your help/advice. First my machine specs: 1.25GHz G4 running OS 10.2.8 with 1.5gb of RAM....
Last week I was happily burning cds and dvds through the finders built in disk burn utility... I went to burn a disk yesterday, and it gave me an error message - "You have inserted a disk containing no volumes that Mac OSX can read. To continue......click ignore" I also began to have trouble with the keyboard eject key. It will not open or close the cd tray. After rebooting, the eject key began working again. I've tried both Apple and Memorex blank cds and dvds all with the same error message. I can read my previously burned backup disks, btw. I then opened disk burn and it began to open in classic mode! After searching the applications and utilities folder (and doing a find file) the only place disk burn resided was in the OS 9 Applications folder. Where did it go? Disk burn should be OSX native correct? It's never opened classic before! I then went to system profiler to see if it was detecting the superdrive and here is what I saw: Bus: CD-RW/DVD-R Disk burning: fully supported Unit number: 0 ATA device type: atapi Device Serial: Device Revision: D02E Product Identification: DVD-RW GCA-4020B Vendor Identification: HL-DT-ST Shouldn't the vendor ID be "Pioneer" and have the model #? Here is what I have tried in my troubleshoot so far: 1. different disks and brands of disks all with the same results 2. repaired permissions multiple times. every time I do so, it finds more to fix. 3. Many reboots. What am I missing? anyone seen anything like this before? Would it help to reload the drivers? Is it possible to just load disk burn? Any help would be much appreciated. Please cc your reply to my email address as well as to the list as I am on digest mode. Thanks in advance for sharing your knowledge/experience.
