Thanks for geting back...

I have a Handspring Visor with a Color Screen. The
HotSync problem reads...

"The connection between your handheld computer and the
desktop could not be established. Please check your
setup and try again."

We deal with Palm communications hassles all the time.

Three possibilities:

1) The software is an old version. DL the latest from Handspring. (We were getting this same message on a Palm last week when we updated someone from Windows 98 to WinXP, turns out it needed a newer version of the software than came in the box.)

2) the HotSynch manager on the Mac isn't looking at the USB port. Unlikely, it should look there automatically.

3) The cradle is bad. Know anyone else with a USB cradle for one of those? Or a PC or Mac you could test it on? This is the most likely, alas.

I found a Palm USB cradle last week (I believe it's the same as the handspring) at Computers4sure.com for like $5.95 ; shipping cost more! This was for a Palm M515.

A more remote possibility is that the Handspring itself is bad; you can test that with a known good setup of cradle and computer.
