In my experience CDROM drives last about 4 to 5 years with moderate use. I
personally prefer LG cdrom/DVD/Burners. Your CDROM drive just may be going
south... That would be my first guess if it used to work. Have you performed
any modifications on your G3 recently.

I have this A/V Beige G3 running OS 9.1 that came with
an Apple DVD  drive and I was wondering why it is not
able to recognize an ISO CD. I added a Lite-on CD
burner using slave and it had no problem recongizing
the ISO CD. In fact, I don't recall ever having this
problem with other CDroms I've had in the past. Any
ideas on this?
