And as Dana already said, zapping the PRAM fixed it. I let zap three times before letting go of the keys.
hope that helps, -matt

hello anyone..
i picked up a g3 266mhz that does not mount any cd that i put into it.
if i start up with a disc in the drive i get a series of text that says:
no bootable hfs partition no bootable hfs partition no bootable hfs partition can't open can't open can't open can't open can't open can't open can't open can't open
then it continues to boot up to the desktop.
if i boot up and hold the "C" key down it will see a "bootable" cd.
i installed a fresh copy of 8.6 in it, and it still doesn't mount a disc
when inserted.
the original drive was noisy so i swapped it with another drive i hand in a 266mhz desktop g3 i had, but it's still giving me the same error.
does anyone know what this means or how to fix it?
thanks in advance.
ray b
p.s. sorry if anyone gets this twice. my isp has been funky.
