I think 256MB over the limit of the amount of RAM RamDoubler can double. And there have been mixed results on the effectiveness of the later versions RamDoubler.
256 mb is the limit. Don't know about the effect of RD9, it's incompatible w, Photoshop 5.5, so I newer got around to testing it any further. RD8 works just fine w. OS 9.1.
My experience from RD1, RD2 and RD8 has been that it worked both faster and smother than virtual memory.
