To the best of my knowledge, in the old days USB cards and ethernet cards may or may not have worked in a Beige G3. They certainly needed their own special--often hard-to-find--drivers. Some of the cards and some of the drivers were not happy in some of the machines--or even in some of the slots in some of the machines. Today, most of those problems have gone by the wayside, but I have some old system folders I cart around because they have serial numbers and drivers installed in them--and I don't know what they are, how they interact or whatever.
