Well, now I've done it. I was just trying to reconfigure my little LAN (with router/hub and printer) based on my trusty old B&W G3/350 (rev. 1, 768 MB RAM, 6 & 18 GB internal drives, 10.1.5 and 10.2.8) that had been running OK on 10.2.8 for a while.
When I couldn't see the printer any more, I thought I needed to reinstall 10.2.8 , so I started a thorough cleanup, I thought: CUDA switch, zap PRAM a few times, repair permissions, and download 10.2.8 and install. All OK, except repeated failure during installation. So, I thought I better reinstall 10.2 from the CD--except when it gets to Select a Destination Disk, no disks are shown. I see the two internal drives on the desktop but now I can't see the external Firewire drive! When I try to leave the install disk, restarting with Option does NOT take me back to the hard drive OS, it just starts the install disk again. Trying to zap PRAM again also fails, as though the keyboard was selectively ignored. When I tried to crank up an old Disk Warrior, the CD does not show up on the desktop, although the drive responds to the front panel button. So, how do I get access to my CD/DVD drive and external hard drive, and why can't the 10.2 installer program see any drives on which to install? Thanks in advance for ANY ideas.
