I think the 6500 has a scsi cd rom and I know the 7100 does. You can use
them in the G3, but it is a real pain and is going backward, so to speak. If
the 6500 has an ata cd, it can be used in the same spot as the present one
in the G3 without any hassles. You can tell if it is ata by the width of the
ribbon connector. If it fits the ribbon that goes to the present cd player,
then it should be an easy deal, just make sure the master/slave jumpers are
the same on the new one as the old one.
