I'm using a 17" PB G4, 512MB RAM, OS 10.2.8. I recently purchased the 40GB "Clickwheel" iPod and have been having a problem with the iPod rebooting. Guy at the Genius Bar at local Apple Store restored iPod with his song files and the problem goes away, hence the suggestion that I have a corrupted file on the Powerbook. I went to "single user" mode and ran the fdsk command, no problems found. Ran Disk Utility and several permissions are found to be incorrect, but can't be fixed since I ran the utility from the startup disk. So... I tried to boot the Powerbook from the System X (Jaguar) install disk. No go. Tried via restarting and holding down the "C" key--still boots from the hard drive. Tried resetting the startup disk in System Prefs and restarting--still boots from the hard drive. Cannot figure this out. Any suggestions?
