First of all, I cannot install new software. When I download new updates from Apple, any of them, there is no way to install the stuff. There are folders but no install thing. I am also having problems on some sites where the names of the buttons are missing and there are boxes with question marks in them. This is why I tried to install a new version of Safari and found I couldn't do it. Then I downloaded the OSX 2.8 update, but again couldn't use it. I cant' seem to fix anything and I don't know what is wrong. I fix permissions and checked the disk, but no luck. Anyone have any idea what is going on.
You didn't delete any fonts in /System/Library/Fonts did you? If you mess with System Fonts all sorts of weird and bad things happen.
