i bought a verion of os x (10.1.4) from OWC for a stock beige 3 266mhz
machine i had, and followed the install correctly and it totally hosed the machine.

it boots up looking for a hard disk now. totally unusable.

was there a problem with this version? it said it supported beige g3s.

The only advice or help I would offer you is to reformat that drive as soon as you can get your hands on a copy of 10.2 or 10.3.

You need to use XpostFacto to install 10.3 on a beige G3.
