One more time... (I know it's been asked many times before) -

What model Macs have the limitation that requires OS X to reside within the first 8 GB of hard drive space (i.e within a partition on the first 8 GB) in order to be bootable ?

A simle search in Apple's tech library brings up the answer:

Ah, Hah! This says it only applies to ATA drives. My 18 GB seagate is a SCSI. However, it says rather cautiously, " SCSI drives *may* not be affected regardless of their storage capacity."

Doncha love it when they add squirm room to their answers. :\

Bottom line: Create the partition. Launch the OS Installer. If it lets you select the partition, then life is good. If not, then you know you have the problem. :)
